Buncombe commissioner Holly Jones claims that “longevity pay” is out of line with other counties. The issue is not the amount of longevity compensation for 25 years of service rather it’s the principles of pay for job function performance.Much research exists to assert “money is not a motivator.” It is a satisfier, but temporary at that.
