Monday, July 2nd, 2018

An article published on January 5, 2017, by the Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC), an American news channel, confirms that Costa Rica is one of the four countries with the best health care in the World. The article was originally published by International Living, a worldwide program created to share experiences, languages, and customs with those from different countries, with the goals of broadening horizons and advancing peace.

The Stem Cells Transplant Institute located in Escaz, Costa Rica, offers state-of-the-art technologies in stem cell medicine. We have the best equipment, knowledgeable experts, and one of the best health care systems in the world, for you to receive your stem cell procedure.

Lets take a look at some important points that the media highlighted about Costa Ricas heath care system (check it athttp://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/05/4-countries-with-the-best-health-care-in-the-world-2017-commentary.html)

More than 40,000 Americans travel each year to Costa Rica to seekmedical and dental treatmentbecause of the outstanding reputation of Costa Rica. These medical tourists have discovered that this little Central American country has high quality healthcare available at a very low cost compared with their home country. Medical tourism is increasing each year as more and more patients learn about the advantages of coming to Costa Rica.

Costa Rica provides two medical systems and expats are allowed access to both. The first system is the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social. This is universal healthcare, provided and managed by the government. Its available both to citizens and legal residents. As a member of the Caja, you pay a monthly a fee based on your income. After you pay your monthly fee, all the health care is covered and there are no exclusions for age or pre-existing conditions. The system has an emphasis on preventative care. There are ten major public hospitals four in San Jose, including the Childrens Hospital affiliated with the Caja. For non-emergencies and everyday medical care, the Caja has small clinics, known as EBAIS, located in almost every community.

There is also an extensive private medical system in Costa Rica, with doctors, clinics, and hospitals throughout the entire country. You can pay cash to see private providers, but the cost is still a tiny fraction compared to equivalent care in the United States. A general doctor visit will cost about $50 and a specialist doctor visit will range from $80 to $100. Exams like ultrasound and x-rays, will cost about $75. Even major surgeries are cheap comparatively, running half to a quarter of the cost compared the U.S. Due to Costa Ricas medical reputation, very low costs, and beautiful surroundings, the country is rapidly becoming a prime destination for medical tourism.

You can also use insurance, either international policies or those provided by Costa Rican companies. Most private hospitals have international patient departments to help you arrange financial matters. Stem Cell treatments are no exception.

Costa Rica provides a great opportunity to get your stem cell treatment at a very reasonable price when compared with the United States. The Stem Cells Transplant Institute in Costa Rica, provides legally approved stem cell therapies. Costa Ricas health care system ranks higher than the United States, making Costa Rica one of your best options for stem cell treatment. You can feel safe and confident receiving medical treatment in one the best health services in the World.

At the Stem Cells Transplant Institute, we specialize in the use of autologous stem cells obtained from your own bone marrow and adipose tissue to treat a broad range of diseases. Dont hesitate to contact us to get more information about your specific condition. Stem Cells are positively impacting many peoples lives. You can be the next! Do it in the right place.

Classification of stem cells

The Stem Cells Transplant Institute uses adult autologous mesenchymal stem cells derived from adipose tissue.

Stem cells come from two main sources; embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells. Adult stem cells do not require the destruction of an embryo and their collection and use in research is not controversial. Adult stem cells are undifferentiated totipotent or multipotent cells, found throughout the body after embryonic development.

Stem cells are also classified based on where they are collected from;allogenicstem cells are collected from the same species, xenogeneicstem cells are collected from a different species, andautologousstem cells are collected from the intended recipient.

Stem cellscan be classified by the extent to which they can differentiate into differentcelltypes. These four mainclassificationsare totipotent, pluripotent, multipotent, or unipotent. Mesenchymal stem cells, or MSCs, are multipotent stromal cellsthat can differentiate into a variety ofcelltypes, including: osteoblasts (bonecells), chondrocytes (cartilage cells), myocytes (musclecells) and adipocytes (fatcells).

The Stem Cells Transplant Institute uses adipose derived stem cells removed from either the patients abdomen or thigh and placed in a centrifuge machine that spins them very quickly, concentrating the stem cells and growth factors.

Stem Cell Treatment: Costa Rica vs Panama

Wednesday, June 27th, 2018

We have received several inquiries about the stem cell clinic that was previously in Costa Rica, but moved to Panama, and is now known as the Stem Cell Institute of Panama.People were curious about the circumstances surrounding their move, and how the stem cell treatment at our clinic differ in terms of procedures, price, and efficacy?

Why did Stem Cell Institute Panama move? Is the health care system better in Panama? What Happened?

First, it is important to mention that when the Stem Cell Institute of Panama moved from Costa Rica to Panama, stem cell treatment laws were being modified in Costa Rica and stem cell treatments were not legally approved by the Costa Rican Government at that time, a situation that has changed today.

In 2010, Ileana Herrera, the head of the health ministrys research council in Costa Rica, said the Stem Cell Institute of Panama, which opened in Costa Rica in 2006, would be allowed to store adult stem cells extracted from patients own fat tissue, bone marrow and donated umbilical cords, but not perform treatments since efficiency and safety were uncertain.

Today stem cell treatments in Costa Rica are legally approved and promoted by relevant medical clinics like the Stem Cells Transplant Institute in Escaz. Regulations in Costa Rica were modified recently in favor of the use of stem cells. The complaints by Stem Cell Institute of Panama originated due to the situation in Costa Rica at that specific time. Research into the type of comments and complaints in searches related to the Panamanian company would reveal inquiries such as:

Many articles have been written in response to the above questions by various sources with statements both pro and con, but those comments, and / or complaints would be made about any clinic anywhere because of the controversy surrounding these new stem cell treatments.

The Stem Cell Transplants Institute in Panama, as well as the healthcare system, faces many challenges today that interfere with complete development.

Despite advances in stem cells transplants in Panama and in Panamas health care in the past few years, there is a shortage of healthcare professionals. This is not an issue limited to the health sector, but rather a tendency that affects multiple fields of the economy in Panama. Also, although the country has made important advances toward universal healthcare coverage, according to the Pan American Health Organization, public and private sector covered around 90% of the population in 2014, access to health services is not equally available for everyone. There is a marked discrepancy between health outcomes in urban and rural settings.

In comparison, the Costa Rican healthcare system is rated very highly on an international level, and the countrys citizens enjoy the health and life expectancy equal to that of more developed nations. Nearly the entire population of Costa Rica had healthcare coverage by the year 2006. In addition, the country ranks among one of the best for specialized medical professionals. This is the case with Dr. Leslie Mesn, who specializes in stem cells treatments and anti-aging therapies in Escaz.Get more information here.

To summarize, the healthcare in Costa Rica has many advantages when compared to Panama. Additional benefits include, security and weather. For example, Panama is more hot, humid, and cloudy and has a prolonged rainy season. Costa Rica is a great destination for stem cell therapy.

How do our treatments differ? Are Stem Cells Institute Panama cures and methods different from ours?

The Stem Cell Institute of Panama utilizes mainly combinations of allogeneic human umbilical cord stem cells and autologous bone marrow stem cells to treat the diseases. The Stem Cells Institute in Costa Rica uses adult autologous stem cells obtained from the patients own fatty tissue.

Allogeneic stem cell transplantation utilized by Stem Cell Institute of Panama is a procedure in which a person receives stem cells from a genetically similar, but not identical, donor. These types of cells are more vulnerable to rejection than autologous cells (cells derived from the same individual). In comparison, the Stem Cells Transplant Institute in Costa Rica uses exclusively adult autologous stem cells obtained from the patients own tissue, so risk of rejections is almost non-existent. Adult stem cells are less likely to be rejected when used in transplants and they are possible to reprogram. The success of using adult stem cells has been demonstrated in various clinical applications. Top stem cell research universities have studies suggesting that adult stem cells may have greater plasticity than was originally thought, which means that they may be able to differentiate into a greater range of specialized cell types. At present, however, it would appear that embryonic stem cells still have the advantage in their ability to differentiate more readily than adult stem cells, but as we just mentioned, the possibility of rejection is also much higher.

Another important difference between the Stem Cell Institute of Panama treatments and the treatments at the Stem Cells Transplant Institute of Costa Rica is that since adult stem cells are derived from adult tissues and, of course, with consent from the patient, there is little if any ethical dilemma to adult stem cell therapies. Embryonic stem cells and umbilical cord stem cells, on the other hand, have triggered enormous debate due to the destruction of an embryo following cell extraction or issues surrounding the collection and application of stem cells from the umbilical cord.

At the Stem Cells Transplant Institute in Costa Rica, we use adult stem cells. We harvest stem cells from a sample of your own bone marrow or adipose tissue and later inject them intravenously or directly in the zone required. The therapies are legally approved in Costa Rica and are highly controlled. You can be assured that we follow the highest ethical standards and do not practice any procedures that may be viewed as crossing the ethical standards of human life.

Are therapies more expensive in Costa Rica? Are Stem Cell Institute Panama costs lower?

No, the cost of treatment at the Stem Cell Institute of Panama is very similar to Costa Rica. The experts at the Stem Cells Institute in Costa Rica use state-of-the-art technology and provide high quality care at a reasonable price.

Do treatments in Costa Rica differ from the treatments at the Stem Cell Institute of Panama in terms of efficacy?

Stem cell transplants in Panama and Costa Rica are being used for autism, COPD, anti-aging and many other degenerative and inflammatory diseases. People with various illnesses interested in stem cell treatment at the Stem Cell Institute of Panama, have done an internet search for:

It should be noted that the Stem Cells Transplant Institute of Costa Rica offers the same treatments, and more in our new, ultra-modern clinic in the CIMA Medical Center. In terms of efficacy, stem cells by themselves have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body independently of the health center; however, it requires a strict isolation process and qualified expertise for the correct application.

At the Stem Cells Transplant Institute in Costa Rica, we guarantee you we strictly follow well-designed isolation protocols, with high standards of quality, hygiene, and top technological resources. The therapies are applied by highly qualified professionals so you receive the best possible results. The procedures followed by Stem Cell Transplant Institute of Panama are not known to us.

The Stem Cell Institute of Panama moved from Costa Rica because of temporary circumstances that have been resolved and have nothing to do with aspects of efficacy, lower costs or lack of resources in Costa Rica. In comparison, Costa Rica has a higher standard of healthcare and expert institutions like the Stem Cells Transplant Institute that offer legally approved and high-quality therapies.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Stem Cells Treatment, Autoimmune …

Saturday, October 7th, 2017

Stem cells Transplant Institutein Costa Rica, under the direction of Dr. Mesn, is a pioneer in the use of Stem Cells Therapies in Costa Rica.

AtStem Cells Transplant Institute, we use adult autologous stem cells for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Stem cells therapy consists of the direct administration of the cells into the affected joint or in areas immediately surrounding the injury in order to regenerate damaged tissue, with the subsequent improvement of joint functionality.

Evidence in recent years has suggested that the bone marrow may be involved, and may even be the initiating site of the disease. Abnormalities in hemopoietic stem cells survival, proliferation and aging have been described in patients affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis and ascribed to abnormal support by the bone marrow microenvironment.

Mesenchymal stem cells and their progeny constitute important components of the bone marrow niche. Studies suggest that the onset of inflammatory arthritis is associated with altered self-renewal and differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, which alters the composition of the bone marrow microenvironment.

Using stem cell therapies offered atStem Cells Transplant Institute, you can improve symptoms and signs of Rheumatoid Arthritis as:

With the urgent need for more effective treatments for Rheumatoid arthritis, particularly for those with more progressive forms of the disease,Stem Cells Transplant Institutebelieves that the potential of all types of cell therapies must be explored.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease characterized by a chronic inflammation of joints mediated by T-cells (a subtype of white blood cells that plays a central roll in cell-mediated immunity).

Rheumatoid arthritis affects 1% of world population. The disease starts with the inflammation of the synovial membrane, which frequently leads to the destruction of adjacent cartilage and bone. These provoke a moderate physical inability in 80% of the patients and an early death.

Stem Cells Transplant Institutein Costa has state-to-the-art technologies and human resource to help you get fascinating treatment possibilities for Rheumatoid Arthritis through the use of stem cells. Costa Rica ranks as one of the best healthcare systems in the World, we offer high quality stem cells treatments for just a fraction of the price you get in the USA. Dont hesitate to contact us.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body - most often by inserting thin needles through the skin. It is one of the most effective practices used in traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture stimulates nerve fibers to transmit signals to the spinal cord and brain, activating the bodys central nervous system. The spinal cord and brain then release hormones responsible for making us feel less pain while improving overall health. Acupuncture may also: increase blood circulation and body temperature, affect white blood cell activity (responsible for our immune function), reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and regulate blood sugar levels.

Aquatherapy

Aquatic Physical Therapy is the practice of physical therapy in a specifically designed water pool with a therapist. The unique properties of the aquatic environment enhance interventions for patients with neurological or musculoskeletal conditions. Aquatic therapy includes a wide range of techniques allowing patients to improve their balance, muscle strength and body mechanics. Aquatic therapy works to enhance the rehabilitation process and support effectiveness of stem cell treatment.

Epidural Stimulation

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is the medical use of oxygen at a level higher than atmospheric pressure. The equipment required consists of pressure chamber, which may be of rigid or flexible construction, and a means of delivering 100% oxygen into the respiratory system. Published research shows that HBOT increases the lifespan of stem cells after injection and provides an oxygen-rich atmosphere for the body to function at optimum levels.

Nerve Growth Factor (NGF)

Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a member of the neurotrophic factor (neurotrophin, NTFS) family, which can prevent the death of nerve cells and has many features of typical neurotransmitter molecules. NGF plays an important role in the development and growth of nerve cells. NGF is synthesized and secreted by tissues (corneal epithelial, endothelial, and corneal stromal cells), and it can be up-taken by sympathetic or sensory nerve endings and then transported to be stored in neuronal cell bodies where it can promote the growth and differentiation of nerve cells.NGF can exert neurotrophic effects on injured nerves and promote neurogenesis (the process of generating neurons from stem cells) that is closely related to the development and functional maintenance and repair of the central nervous system. It is also capable of promoting the regeneration of injured neurons in the peripheral nervous system, improving the pathology of neurons and protecting the nerves against hypoxia (lack of oxygen)/ischemia (lack of blood supply).

Nutrition Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy interventions focus on adapting the environment, modifying the task and teaching the skill, in order to increase participation in and performance of daily activities, particularly those that are meaningful to the patient with physical, mental, or cognitive disorders. Our Occupational Therapists also focus much of their work on identifying and eliminating environmental barriers to independence and participation in daily activities, similar to everyday life.

Physiotherapy

Physical therapy or physiotherapy (often abbreviated to PT) is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty that, by using mechanical force and movements, remediates impairments and promotes mobility, function, and quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical intervention. We combine our PT with stem cells for maximum physical rehabilitation improvements.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Research has shown that TMS can effectively treat symptoms of depression, anxiety, neurological pain, stroke, spinal cord injuries, autism and more. This procedure is very simple and noninvasive. During the procedure, a magnetic field generator or coil is placed near the head of the person receiving the treatment. The coil produces small electrical currents in the region of the brain just under the coil via electromagnetic induction. This electrical field causes a change in the transmembrane current of the neuron which leads to depolarization or hyperpolarization of the neuron and the firing of an action potential.

Stem Cell Treatment for Ataxia – Beike Biotechnology

Sunday, September 24th, 2017

How does ataxia affect the patient? The disease is characterized by progressively disabling clinical manifestations. Patients show symptoms of gait instability or dysarthria and may begin to fall without warning. Gradually they present progressive limitations in their activities, lose the ability to walk, become bedridden and fully dependent. Other clinical manifestations include astasia, impaired fine motor skillsand intention tremor (cerebellar tremor). The cerebellar syndrome is often associated with other neurological signs such as pyramidal or extrapyramidal signs, ophthalmoplegia, and cognitive impairment.

How to diagnose ataxia? Most people dont know what ataxia is and may overlook the early symptoms. Anyone with progressive gait disorder or imbalance should be evaluated by a neurologist. MRI is recommended in all cases. If a treatable cause is not discovered, a gene test should be done. In about 60 percent of the cases, the gene test will determine the type of ataxia.

What is the efficacy of conventionaltreatments?Until now, conventional treatments are generally used to alleviate the symptoms, not the disease itself. The movement disorders can be managed using pharmacological, physical and occupational therapies to minimize the damage and to promote the mobility as long as possible but overall current treatment remains retardant.

What are the difference between autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive ataxias?Autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive ataxias are hereditary ataxias, and spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) and Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA) are the most common forms of hereditary ataxia. Autosomal dominant genes express themselves when present. Autosomal recessive genes will only express themselves when in the homozygous state -- i.e., both genes in the gene pair are the recessive gene form. Thus, recessive genes can be "carried" by those whose phenotype does not exhibit the gene characteristic, while dominant genes cannot be "carried". Therefore, generally autosomal dominant ataxias are easier to express andat a higher morbiditythan autosomal recessive ataxias.

What is the role of Purkinje cells, where can we find those cells ?Purkinjecellsare a type of neuron found in the cerebellar cortex, at the base of the brain. They are among the largest neurons and are responsible for most of the electrochemical signaling in the cerebellum. ThePurkinjecellsand the cerebellum are essential to the body's motor function. Disorders involving thePurkinjecellsusually negatively affect the patient's movements.

Stem Cell Therapy for Alzheimer’s in South Africa

What is Alzheimers disease?

This is a complex disease which affects brain nerve cells. It is the most common cause of dementia and effective treatment is very difficult.

What causes Alzheimers is still unclear. However, researchers have found out that there is an abnormal buildup of certain proteins in the brains of Alzheimers patients. Amyloid-beta is an example of one such protein. It clumps together to form plaques. Tau is another example, and it gets twisted into protein tangles.

Scientists have a theory that the plaques prevent proper communication of the brain nerve cells. The tangles make it hard for the nerve cells to get the nutrients they require. As the disease progresses, the nerve cells begin to die. Because of this, Alzheimers is a neurodegenerative disease.

Currently, Alzheimers disease has no cure. Medications are used to temporarily alleviate the symptoms by improving the ability to manage regular activities or enhancing memory. Most of these medications are cholinesterase inhibitors and they are used to prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine (a natural substance in the brain), which carries the signals between the neurons.

These are cells that can multiply and increase themselves (self-renew). In addition, they can develop and transform into different types of specialist cells which can carry out a specific function.

Yes, stem cell therapy can be done severally. Current research indicates the strong possibility of a cumulative effect from multiple therapies.

After the stem cell therapy, the stem cells have to make their way into the area in need of repair and then have their effect. This process takes time and usually takes several weeks or months to see the desired effect.

Currently, no proven and effective stem cell treatment for this disease is available. However, research is underway which utilizes stem cell technology to investigate the causes and effects of the disease. It is expected that their findings will play a crucial role in finding new drugs and cell-based therapies in the future. Stem cell therapy may help Alzheimers patients who do not respond to drug treatment, want to limit their reliance on medication or want to try stem cell therapy before drug treatment. Even if healthy, neural stem cells are available and can be safely transplanted, they would have to achieve therapeutic benefits by:

UNDERSTANDING MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the disease is thought to affect more than 2.3 million people worldwide, that number may be a significant under estimate since MS is not a reportable disease and no centralized reporting system exists at this time. Also, MS can be difficult to diagnose. Since there is no single test for MS, the diagnosis can be missed, delayed or even incorrect.

In MS, the immune system malfunctions destroying the myelin which is the fatty substance that coats and protects nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. Often times, the myelin is compared to the insulation coating that surrounds electrical wires. When the surrounding protective myelin is damaged and the nerve fibers are exposed, the messages traveling along the nerve become slow or potentially blocked. In some cases, the nerve becomes damaged.

Adult stem cells are potentially the most diverse and effective healing agents ever known and have been proven to treat an astounding variety of conditions, ranging from injuries to chronic, debilitating diseases. Over million adult stem cell treatments and counting have been perform and many have improved health and quality of life for patients with unmet clinical needs.

Groundbreaking research related to adult stem cell therapy for slowing MS disease and for repairing damage to the nervous system has shown much progress. At StemGenex Medical Group, our staff has personally witnessed how the use of adipose-derived stem cells (from fat tissue) have improved the quality of life of many patients seen for Multiple Sclerosis. Weve felt inspired by how these patients have responded to StemGenexs integrated healthcare approach to treating MS.

Stem cells are highly potent healing agents in the body and have shown therapeutic effects through a wide range of modalities. We frequently hear from patients who are extremely grateful for the relief and improved quality of life they have experienced following stem cell therapy for Multiple Sclerosis.

In any type of treatments for MS, it is essential to address the underlying cause of autoimmunity through modulating the immune system in addition to repairing damaged neurological tissue. The primary causes contributing to the progression of Multiple Sclerosis is due to the bodys autoimmune attack against the central nervous system causing damage to the nerve fibers and their protective myelin sheath, resulting in demyelination. Groundbreaking research indicates adipose-derived stem cells have the potential to address these two main causes that contribute to the progression of Multiple Sclerosis by inhibiting the immune attack against the central nervous system and stimulating regeneration damaged tissue in the body. Adipose-derived stem cell treatment has the ability to address both fundamental causes of the disease by selectively homing to areas in the body of damaged tissue and repair function and healing.

According to research, adipose-derived stem cells have the potential to be excellent candidates for Multiple Sclerosis for two main reasons:

Woman Battling Multiple Sclerosis Sees Improvements from Stem Cell Therapy

We often hear from patients who are extremely grateful for the relief they have experienced following adipose-derived stem cell treatment. Patients have reported the following improved quality of life benefits associated with Multiple Sclerosis:

Through customized, targeted stem cell treatment plans, our goal is to offer patients access to adult stem cell treatment that has the potential to significantly improve ones quality of life. Stem cell therapy consists of a very simple and brief liposuction procedure where the patients adipose (fat) tissue is extracted from patients body in our AAAHC accredited surgical center by accomplished board certified physicians. Through our proprietary protocols, the adipose tissue is then processed by laboratory technicians in our on-site state-of-the-art laboratory. The stem cells are then comfortably infused back into the patients body, which takes place in a comprehensive one-day outpatient procedure in our distinguished stem cell treatment facility.

Currently, Multiple Sclerosis medications only offer treatment and therapy for the symptoms of the disease. These drugs may help with symptoms, but only at the expense of serious, often life-endangering side effects.

Unfortunately, there is no standard medical treatment for the two main causes that contribute to the progression of the disease which include the bodys autoimmune attack against the central nervous system, and the resulting demyelination. Majority of MS drugs focus on addressing symptoms for only one of the primary causes of progression. Current MS drugs are designed to suppress, alter, or slow down the activity of the bodys immune system; however, these drugs do not address the regeneration of the lost myelin.

Stem cell therapy has been shown to help both primary causes of the disease progression by repairing and regenerating damaged tissue, modulating the immune system and slowing down inflammation. In the near future, it is anticipated that stem cell treatment will potentially surpass conventional drug therapy.

Adipose-derived stem cells, also known as mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown therapeutic benefits for treating Multiple Sclerosis. Adult mesenchymal stem cells are found in several places throughout the body including adipose tissue, also known as your fat tissue. Adipose tissue includes a variety of cell types which includes the stromal-vascular fraction (SVF). The SVF contains an abundant amount of stem cells called adipose-derived stem cells and also contains high concentrations of other very beneficial components (T-regulatory cells, preadipocytes, endothelial precursor cells, anti-inflammatory macrophage) with robust anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties.

Known to be very potent, adipose-derived stem cells have the capacity to differentiate into various specialized cells in our body. They have the unique ability to produce additional cells which help other stem cells function properly and have the ability to selectively hone into areas in the body of injured tissue and repair functionality.

Committed to the science and innovation of stem cell treatment, StemGenex sponsors a clinical study registered with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for Multiple Sclerosis. The study Outcomes of Data of Adipose Stem Cells to Treat Multiple Sclerosis has been established to formally document and evaluate the quality of life changes in individuals following adipose-derived stem cell treatment.

Arguments Against Stem Cell Research

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016

I strongly oppose human cloning, as do most Americans. We recoil at the idea of growing human beings for spare body parts, or creating life for our convenience.President George W. Bush, August 2001

In July 2006, (former) President George W. Bush vetoed a bill to ensure the continuation and expansion of human embryonic stem (hES) cell research in the USA; including the proposition to allow discarded embryos created for IVF to be utilized as sources for new hES cell lines.

This opposition to hES cell research had long been one of his most noted principles throughout his period in office, with the President viewing such research as a means of utilising life for convenience (see above); and serves to emphasise the level of importance now attached to the stem cell research debate.

Having examined the arguments put forth by those in favour of stem cell research (link to arguments in favour of STR), what are the arguments stated by its opponents?

Many opponents of hES cell research state this issue to be the basis of their belief that such use of embryos should not be allowed under any circumstances. To them, the issue of potentiality creates the following problem with regards to hES:

As such, even if the benefits (such as life saving treatments and improved understanding of debilitating illnesses) put forward by supporters of the technology do eventually come in to fruition, these hypothetical ends cannot justify the means; or as George Bush stated when explaining his vetoing of the aforementioned hES bill:

I Love My New Stem Cells

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

1. Where did you have your stem cell treatment done? 2. Why didnt you have the treatment done in the United States? 3. Werent you worried about having a treatment done that is not FDA approved? 4. Where is Costa Rica? 5. Is Costa Rica safe to travel to? 6. Isn't Costa Rica a third world country? 7. What are stem cells? 8. What is the difference between embryonic and adult stem cells? 9. Did the stem cell treatment work? 10. What was the hospital like? 11. Did the treatment hurt? 12. Would you do it again? 1.Q Where did you have your stem cell treatment done? A After months of research and questioning and fact-finding, I decided to go to the Stem Cell Institute (cellmedicine.com). My first 2 treatments were done in San Jose, Costa Rica. The company continued to grow and expand to Panama to develop Medistem Panama. In 2009, the company was undergoing full development of a new $3M state of the art adult stem cell laboratory. In 2009, the Stem Cell Institute consolidated and moved all lab, research, and medical procedures to Panama. Go to Top 2.Q Why didnt you have the treatment done in the United States? A The stem cell treatment I had done for Multiple Sclerosis is not an approve treatment by the FDA. Go to Top 3.Q Werent you worried about having a treatment done that is not FDA approved? A No. In my humble opinion, I do not think that the United States is the only country that has the technology and resources available to develop and perform beneficial, advanced medical treatments. It is ignorant to believe that the FDA always knows best. Medicine is the art and science of healing. It encompasses a range of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness. United States scientists and doctors are not the only professionals looking for solutions to solve health issues. It is a worldwide endeavor. Go to Top 4.Q Where is Costa Rica? A Costa Rica is located on the Central American isthmus with Nicaragua to the North and Panama to the South. It is not an island. It is bordered on the north by Nicaragua, the southeast by Panama. It is bordered on the East by the Caribbean Sea and on the West by the Pacific Ocean and is situated very near the equator. Go to Top 5.Q Is Costa Rica safe to travel to? A Without a doubt Costa Rica can be called the safest country in Central America. First and foremost, Costa Ricans (whether foreigners or Ticos) are honest and friendly people. They have a saying, "Pura Vida" ("Pure Life"). Wealth is very evenly distributed in relation to North America or European countries. Simple living without great material excess is the rule, and education, health, and welfare are freely available. Dismal poverty is rare, and therefore crime is reduced considerably. It has one of the lowest violent crime rates anywhere in the world. It's a democracy, has potable drinking water and an excellent, if basic, cuisine. There is no army, though the well-trained police force is highly qualified to keep the country secure. Go to Top 6.Q Isn't Costa Rica a third world country? A No. The United Nations uses the phrases developing countries and least developed countries rather than Third World. While it does have an official list of least developed countries it does not have an official list of developing countries because its members have not agreed on the criteria. Here is the link to the United Nations: http://www.worldbank.org The US is considered a first world country because it is on the list of High Income Economies. The next level down is Upper Middle Income Economies and that is what most people refer to as second world countries. Costa Rica and Mexico are on this list. Costa Rica is NOT a third world country. Go to Top 7.Q What are stem cells? A Stem cells are the forerunners of the specialized cells that generate all of the tissues in a human body. Stem cells are capable of renewing themselves almost indefinitely, ensuring a steady supply of replacement cells for those lost to disease, injury and age. Go to Top 8.Q What is the difference between embryonic and adult stem cells? A Adult stem cells are found throughout the body and come from mature tissue including bone marrow, blood, the brain, hair follicles, fat, the pancreas, inside the nose and umbilical cords. They multiply by cell division to replenish dying cells and regenerate damaged tissues. Adult stem cells are multipotent because they can develop into several different types of cells, but not as many as embryonic stem cells.

Embryonic stem cells are derived from fertilized eggs from in vitro fertilization done in a clinic. They are not derived from eggs fertilized in a woman's body. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent, which means they can differentiate into nearly all cells. Embryonic stem cells also have an unlimited ability to self-renew.
