Phillip Danault dilemma, longevity of Shea Weber and more – The Athletic

We should be getting excited for the most intriguing training camp the Canadiens have had in quite some time right about now. Questions abound surrounding how exactly coach Claude Julien will align his new and improved club, who will get which jobs on the power play, stuff like that.

Instead, we wait.

We wait for the NHL and NHLPA to hammer out an agreement so we can have a season. We wait for public health authorities in Quebec to authorize the Canadiens to open their practice facility for their players, which still hasnt happened as of Monday afternoon, with no apparent timeline as to when it might happen. We wait for players to start making their way to Montreal to prepare, which wont happen for most of them until the government gives that authorization to open Brossard because most of them are able to get on the ice where they currently are (or, in the case of Phillip Danault and some other Quebec-based players, have found a clandestine way to skate...
